In order to discover a talented creator, Toho Co., Ltd, AlphaBoat LLC, and Tokyo Otaku Mode Inc. are holding the second GEMSTONE Creator’s Audition. This time, the theme is “Japan.”
We are accepting ideas from creators around the world for an original character with the theme “Japan.”
・It can be based on what Japanese culture means to you: cool, pop, traditional, digital, etc.
・It should be a character that can be loved not just in Japan but around the world.

Please submit a video that’s 3 minutes or less explaining your original character as well as a thumbnail that can be uploaded to YouTube.
The applicant must create a video that explains the character’s charms and worldview in any format of your choosing. Videos that pass the first round will be uploaded to GEMSTONE’s official YouTube channel.
*Accepted Languages: English or Japanese.
*Minors must have permission from their legal guardians to participate.
*One person can submit up to 3 videos.
This contest is only open to those who abide by the rules. Minors must submit a letter of consent from their legal guardians.
People residing in EEA countries (European Economic Area) can not apply this audition regardless of their nationality.

After working in the theater and modern art circles, he opened his shop 6%DOKIDOKI in Harajuku in 1995.
In 2011, his artistic work on Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s “PONPONPON” music video gathered attention from around the world. In the summer of 2015, KAWAII MONSTER CAFE opened in Harajuku as the largest cafe in Tokyo which Masuda produced the concept, art, and staging for.
Since 2014, he has been working as an artist based out of New York.
Currently, he is exhibiting an art project entitled “TIME AFTER TIME CAPSULE” in preparation for 2020.
In 2017, he was a cultural envoy for Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs.

Q. How can I apply?

Q: Are group applications possible?
A: Yes, both individual and group applications will be accepted. However, in the case of a group winner, the prizes will be granted to the group as a whole.
Q: Is there an age limit?
A: No. However, minors must get permission from their legal guardian and submit an official letter of consent.
Q: How many submissions can one applicant submit?
A: One applicant (individual or group) can submit up to 3 submissions.
Q: Are there any specifications for the submission’s size or file type?
A: Please keep your video within 1GB and submit it as MP4. The thumbnail should be within 2MG and either JPEG or PNG (1280x720).
